Pac-Man Championship Edition DX tips: ghost trains, bombs and routing

DX is the original's rules turned into a five-minute score chase. The skills are different, and the biggest one is patience: the longer the train, the bigger the payout.

What the game rewards

Dots refill one half of the maze when you eat the fruit on the other, and sleeping ghosts line the corridors. Walk past a sleeper and it wakes and follows you. The train that forms behind you is worth exponentially more when you finally eat a power pellet, because the ghost chain in DX keeps doubling past the original's four-ghost cap described in pacman points per dot. The design history is in pacman ce versus classic.

Core techniques

  1. Build the train before the pellet. Route through as many sleepers as possible on the way to a power pellet, never eating the pellet with a short train.
  2. Keep the train tight. Ghosts in the train follow your exact path. Avoid reversals, which scatter them.
  3. Eat the fruit on a full half. The fruit regenerates the other side; eating it while dots remain nearby wastes score.
  4. Use slow-motion, not bombs. When a ghost is about to touch you the game slows; use that moment to turn. Bombs save you but cut your speed, so keep them for genuine traps.
  5. Chase speed. Speed rises as you clear; higher speed means more dots per minute, so never idle.

Routing the halves

Plan each half as a loop that passes every sleeper once and ends at the fruit, with the power pellet eaten just before the fruit so the train is at maximum length. The cornering habit from the original (see pre turn trick in pacman) transfers directly and matters more as speed climbs.

Which mode

Compared with the arcade

DX removes patterns, lives and the kill screen, replacing them with routing and speed management. If you enjoy the clock pressure, Time Attack mode on the visit mr pacman online offers a free, simpler version of the same idea, and the full list of official titles is in complete pacman games timeline.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get a high score in Pac-Man CE DX?

Build long trains of sleeping ghosts before each power pellet and eat the fruit only when a half is nearly cleared.

Should I use bombs in Pac-Man CE DX?

Rarely. Bombs reset your speed; the automatic slow-motion near collisions is usually enough to escape.

Which mode is best for beginners?

Score Attack, 5 minutes, which is also the main leaderboard mode.
