Editorial policy
Purpose
Mr Pacman exists to publish accurate, useful information about the maze-chase genre and the 1980 arcade original. This policy describes how we research, write, update and correct what we publish.
Sourcing
- Mechanics. Claims about ghost behaviour, speeds, timers, scoring and the maze are checked against the behaviour of the original arcade release and against long-established technical documentation of its code, and are stated with the level numbers and values we have verified.
- History. Dates, people and sales figures come from published interviews with the game's creators, company histories, period press coverage and recognised reference works. Where sources disagree or figures are estimates, we say so.
- Records. We refer to the verification bodies that adjudicate scores rather than asserting a current record holder, because rankings change under review.
- Availability. Statements about which games can be bought or played are re-checked periodically; each page shows its last update.
Independence
We have no relationship with Bandai Namco or any publisher, retailer or hardware maker. We do not accept payment, free products or sponsorship in exchange for coverage, and we do not publish guest posts or paid links. Advertising is served by Google and does not influence what we write; see the trademark and affiliation disclaimer.
Original work
All articles are written for this site and are not copied from other publications. Quotations from third parties are short and attributed. Images are commissioned illustrations that do not reproduce copyrighted character art.
Use of software tools
We use software, including AI writing assistants, to help draft, organise and proofread. Every fact, figure and claim is reviewed by the editor before publication, and the editor is responsible for the final text.
Corrections
When a reader reports an error through the contact the mr pacman team page and we verify it, we correct the page promptly and update its date. Significant corrections are noted on the page itself. We prefer to be told we are wrong than to leave an error standing.
